The Inauguration of First Café in Alley:
A new café, “First Café” was inaugurated last week in Alley. The café was inaugurated during a special celebration as singers Hani Jamil and Hisham Hamdan presented their beautiful songs. A number of socialites attended the inauguration such as Nathalie Fadlallah, Sonia Ibrahim, Nourhan, Wissam El Amir and his wife Nariman, Nadine Saab and Director Johnny El Saddick and his wife.

Joanna Mallah at Atlal Plaza:
Artist Joanna Mallah enchanted her audience at Atlal Plaza- Tabarja last week as she presented a number of her new and old songs.

Hayfaa Wehbi at Dhour El Shouer Festival:
Dhour El Shouer village organized its annual Bira Festival and Mr. Salim Sawaya, the creator of the concept and its supervisor, invited a number of artists to present special concerts. Artists Hayfaa Wehbi, Joe Ashkar and George Hareik presented beautiful performances until dawn.

Najwa Karam at Tyre Festivals:
Artist Najwa Karam mesmerized the audience as she presented her powerful traditional Lebanese songs in Tyre. Najwa Karam received an honoring award for her participation from Mrs. Randa Berri, president of the organizing committee of Tyre Festivals.

Beit Eddine Festivals:
On July 10, Beit Eddine Festivals were inaugurated with a crowded diplomatic and political audience. Maurice Bejart group presented their outstanding ballet performance on the first night and mesmerized the ministers and MP’s who were present such as Marwan Hemada, Fouad El Sanyoura, Mona El Hirawi and Nora Jumblat.

Fadel Shaker at L’Oscar Palace:
Artist Fadel Shaker continues to enchant his audience every night at L’Oscar Palace nightclub. Dancer Rima accompanies Artist Shaker to present the most beautiful performances.
 

Zein El Omor:
At Bizmar hotel, Artist Zein El Omor presented a number of his old and new songs that the audience admires.

The Inauguration of La Sita:
In the heart of the beautiful Bhamdoun City in Lebanon, a new restaurant (La Sita) inaugurated its new branch last week. A number of socialites and artists attended the inauguration such as Mu’in Shreif, George Hareik, and Khaled El Amir.

Special Night at Casino:
A special music night took place at the elegant nightclub Casino where the new productions of Relax In were released. The evening was distinguished by the presence of the artists working with Relax In Productions such as Amal Hejazi, Joe Ashkar, Jose Fernandez, Sonia Ibrahim, Rania El Kurdi and Jomana Bou Eid.

The great jazz pianist Jamal will perform at the temple of Bacchus accompanied by Idriss Muhammad on drums and James Cammack on bass. A concert we have been looking forward to for a few seasons.

Chicago, The Musical: 25th and 26th July 2003

“Chicago” has been a sell-out hit in Broadway and on the London stage for the last six years. This musical won the Laurence Olivier Award for “Outstanding Musical Production”, the Critics Circle Drama Award for “Best Musical” and six Tony Awards.The all-time favorite songs “All that jazz”, “Cell Block Tango”, “When You’re Good to Mamma”, “Razzle Dazzle” and “Class”  rouse the audience at every show.
Further more, Chicago in its film adaptation has won six Oscars, and the Musical has endured as a triumphant hit on the Broadway stage.
This musical with its original cast will be presented at the temple of Jupiter for two consecutive nights.

Johnny Hallyday : 2nd & 3rd of August 2003
Temple of Jupiter
As part of his colossal 60th birthday tour, the French rock star Johnny Hallyday will be performing at the temple of Jupiter for two nights. Renowned for his energetic performances, the idol of rock music lovers will shake, rattle and roll the columns of the temple of Jupiter with favorite hits like "Que je t'aime", "Quelque chose de Tennessee", "Marie" and other hits. With his latest album, A la vie, à la mort, Johnny is once again at the top chart in the sales of albums and singles. Today, at the height of his career, Johnny Hallyday promises the event of the season, a show not to be missed. 

Opera Carmen of Bizet: 7th and 9th of August 2003
Temple of Jupiter
The opera "Carmen", the most popular opera in the world, is an exclusive French production for Baalbeck. More than 145 participants will perform at the steps of the temple of Jupiter, including the Orchestre Symphonique et Lyrique Français directed by Philippe Hui, the Opera National de Paris choir, the Maîtrise des Hauts-de-Seine children choir, Marie-Thérèse Keller as Carmen and Luca Lombardo as Don José. The artistic director of this unique production is Philippe Hui, and Jack Gervais is the director.

The “Imperial Circus” is considered the best of all on-stage circuses. It has already been attended by millions of spectators, adults and children alike, in more than 60 countries around the world.

After a six month US tour, the artists will travel directly from Las Vegas to Beirut.

The Ensemble Al Kindi comes back to Baalbeck this year with a new repertory which will be presented in two parts. Omar Sarmini will improvise on eleventh century poems. Than, the charismatic Sheikh Habboush together with his Soufi ensemble and whirling dervishes will interpret spiritual songs with all the mastery and intensity of his trance-inducing voice.

Artists Tony Kiwan will present three consecutive concerts on August 3,4, and 5 at El Qalaa festivals in El Akoura. 

Artist Majeda El- Roumi will be presenting concerts according to the following schedule:
- July 30: a concert in Tunisia
- August 1: a concert at Safaqis festival.
- August 5 and 6: two concerts in Benzert.

George Wassouf is going to participate in Saydnaya’s Festival in Syria on July 31. He will be in Jericho Festival on August 14 & 15.

Artist Assi El Hellani will present a concert on July 26 at Sheraton Coral Beach Hotel and Resort. Singer Zena and dancer Nisreen will participate in the concert.

Musician Melhem Barakat will participate in Cartage international festival this summer and will present a concert on August 8. Barakat will present a special song for Tunisia.

Artist Hayfaa Wehbi will present, for the first time, two special concerts this summer. The first is on August 6 at Lancaster Hotel in London, and the second is on September 9 at Lido Theater at Champs Elysees in Paris.

Singer Nancy Ajram participated in the festival that was held in Alexandria, and she is participating starting July 5 in festivals held all over Lebanon. Ajram will also participate in Qatar Tourism Festival, and for the first time she will be Jericho Festivals on August 8.

Monroe Hotel- Ein El Mraysi is to present singer Grace Deeb every Thursday and Friday. Deeb presents the most beautiful foreign songs at Peperment Hall.

Singer Hadi El Mallah presents the best entertainment at Cello nightclub in Kaslik.

The shows of the play Monologue for director Mark Kdaih continues to take place at the theater at Metropolitan Hotel in Sin el Fil. Artists Tony Baroud, Yuri Mrakadi, Marian Khalat and Mario Baseel are presenting a successful show.

Artist Fadel Shaker will be singing at Oscar Palace nightclub in Maameltain this weekend.

Artist Michel Ashkar returned to present the best entertainment at Zad El Kheir Restaurant.

After opening and reopening, BO18 remains a grandiose club with its distinctive decorations. The seats are designed as coffins, and the roof opens and closes. It is a special place to enjoy jazz, drum and bass, trip hop, techno and house music. 18-year olds and above are welcome to enjoy BO 18 freaky atmosphere and sip exquisite drinks at the bar.

At Blue Velvet, you are left with mixed feelings of clamor and peace with the pop and oriental music played by DJ and duo Michel Haj, Rawad and Hadi.

Club 70 (01-366686/ Ain El Mreisseh)
It is a convenient place to dine and dance at the same time. The DJ plays foreign music until midnight, followed by live Arabic music.

Hellos (09-646666/ Jounieh)
Hellos is a popular hangout where people dance to the music of the DJ as he plays Oriental music, with a little taste of international music.

Intro (09-936858/ Ajaltoun Highway)
Couples enjoy a romantic feel with the glamorous and cozy arrangements of the tables at Intro. They also talk about the DJ’s unique taste of music that is not common among other hangouts, especially that Intro has selected a location far from the heart of the city away from other night attractions, which adds to its uniqueness.

Kookoo Club (01-426886/ Ashrafieh)
Kookoo Club is a bizarre place that allows a highly ‘personal’ fun, as well as group entertainment at the same time, thanks to its tree-like tables arranged with jungle like decorations. Music played is a mix of blues, jazz, Brazilian and Cuban music.

It is an exquisite club in Kaslik serving French cuisine. The  DJ plays foreign music, and an Arabic duo performs every night.

Times is a the place for those who want to party till dawn. It receives ages from 20s and up. Music is a mix of Arabic and pop, and the mirrors create considerable space giving confidence to those who enjoy dancing.

Stars Nightclub (09-340100/ Faraya)
From the heart of Faraya, Stars Nightclub can attract up to 800 partygoers on Saturdays. Its decorations are stylish, and the music is a mix of Oriental and foreign.

Zanzibar’s décor (09-541516/ Jbeil Port)
Zanzibar décor is fun and blends local ethnic patterns, South American and African paintings and old Roman stones. Latin nights with half price tequila margaritas on Thursdays. Dance around the globe with Real World Music on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Fridays and Saturdays dance to new generation music. Jazz on Saturdays.

Le Tycoon (01-610222/ Ashrafieh)
Le Tycoon is a club restaurant that serves French cuisine. DJ and two one-man shows nightly.

Mandaloun (01-611311/ Ashrafieh)
Mandaloun, apparently with an oriental touch, breaks the tradition by serving French cuisine. Two singers perform every night: one singing Arabic songs, and the other international as well as a D.J who plays songs of all tastes.

Strange Fruit (01-373764/ Downtown)
A new hangout on the scene, Strange Fruit is an exquisite and funky bar and music club presenting a different DJ every night. At Strange Fruit you can also enjoy a new Japanese dish called Berto Box. It is divided to four compartments, two cold and two hot. Each portion is considered an appetizer but the four together sum up a tasteful dish.

Taiga (03-499408/ Batroun main road)
It is a club/restaurant that accommodates 400 people. It serves an international menu, dancing on the bar, and arranges tables and stage on the weekend.

Xanadu (09-910400)
Dine and dance to the hits provided by the one-man show and DJ at Xanadu.

Caravanserai (01-350199/ Hamra)
It is a club for those who enjoy Mexican and French music. George Keredgion presents a number of foreign songs while Khudor Hassoun plays the lute and enchants the audience aging between 28 and 60 years old with classical music. Caravanserai serves Mexican and European cuisines.
