MUSIC NEWS FEBRUARY 23 till MARCH 01, 2003
Melhim Barakat:
Musician Melhim Barakat flew to Dubai last Tuesday to lay the final touches on his new album and to choose an appropriate title. The album will include nine new songs, and it will be produced by Procast after 20 days.

Walid Toufique:
Artist Walid Toufique was expected to present a concert at the Egyptian Opera on February 17, but it was postponed because Dr. Samir Faraj suggested that Walid’s music band, led by Mohamad Abu Yazeed, plays along with the Opera Music band. This new arrangement will take some time for preparation. Furthermore, Walid Toufique will soon release his new album (Najm El Sama). The album includes 7 songs composed by Baligh Hamdi, Samir Sfeir and Walid Toufique. Tarek Akef, Tarek Madcour, and Mohamad Mustafa distributed the music.

Najwa Karam:
The Egyptian music distributor, Tarek Akef is currently in Lebanon for 10 days to work on distributing the songs of Najwa Karam’s new album. Rotana will produce the album.

Wael Kfouri:
Singer Wael Kfouri released his new album that is entitled (Omri Killo). Kfouri said that the album was a new experience for him after a two-year- absence. Rotana produced the new album.

Kazem El Saher:
Artist Kazem El Saher renewed his contract with Rotana for three additional years. He also stated that his new album will be a surprise because he will return to oriental singing, and he cooperated with an international distributor for the first time in addition to a song with an international group that will be presented on one of Europe’s Theaters.
 

Shereen Wajdi and Mohamad El Mazem:
Artists Shereen Wajdi and Mohamad El Mazem released a new duet for Valentine’s Day. The song is entitled (Romeo and Juliet) and it was filmed in Laklouk, Ji’ita, and a special studio in Romie in Lebanon. Tony Abu Elias directed the video clip.
 

Nathalie Barakat:
Singer Nathalie Barakat decided to withdraw from the 4Cats group because she is still a student at A.U.S.T  and she wants to finish her studies in Business Computer. Barakat also said that her contract with the 4Cats prevented her from working in any other job, and therefore, she had to refuse a number of job offers. Nathalie now got an offer to present a program at ART and she is now preparing for this program in addition to her studies. 

Maya Nasri:
Singer Maya Nasri released her new album (Law Kanlak Kalb) which includes 8 songs. The songs are (Ya Msaharni), (Zakerni Feek), (Ah Ya Salam), (Thib Hibbak Habbit Hob), (Tammen Kalbak), (Ma Fish Malayka), (Law Kanlak Kalb), and (Khoufi). Poets Nabil Abu Abdou, Ikram Assi, Ahmad Marzouk, Fawzi Ibrahim, Khaled Taj Eddine, Amir Ta’aimi, and Saoud Sharbatli wrote the lyrics. Ziad Botros, Mohamad Rheim, Mohamad Saad, Amro Mustafa, and Samir Sfeir composed the songs. Tarek Medcore, Mohamad Mustafa, Ahmad Adel, and Tarek Akef distributed the music.

Elias Rahbani:
Artist Elias El Rahbani received a letter from the president of “Charle Trene Organization”, Mr. Christian Lupon, congratulating him for his great work in “Nasheed El Francophone” which presents the objective of the founder of “Charle Trene Organization”, the late Charle Trene. Therefore, the letter requests, after the approval of artist Elias Rahbani, that “Nasheed El Francophone” be played during the inauguration ceremony of every Francophone conference and of the International Conference at Casino Paris on March 24.

Tony Kiwan:
After concluding recording his new cassette that includes 8 songs, artist Tony Kiwan is filming a new video clip for his new songs, which will be released in March. Kiwan also flew to Dubai where he will present three concerts.
 

Ghada Rajab:
Artist Kazem El Saher will compose a song for Ghada Rajab and it will be released in her new album.

Amal Hejazi:
Signer Amal Hejazi is currently preparing to film her song (Romancia), from her latest album (Zaman). Hejazi will fly to Paris to film the video clip right after she comes back from Dubai where she is participating in Layali Dubai Festival.
