July
1999:
The
Art
in
Movement.
Beirut
being
stated
The
Cultural
City
of
1999,
Maraya
Gallery
has
invited
four
artists
representing
the
new
generation
of
the
Lebanese
painting
to
perform
on
the
common
transport,
the
red
and
white
buses.
The
work
of
these
artists,
Rim
El
Jundi,
Aziza
Harb,
Hossam
Hattoum
and
Salah
Saouli
will
be
reproduced
on
the
buses
circulating
in
the
capital
during
the
whole
month
of
July
and
evaluate
with
the
rhythm
of
the
city.This
event
is
an
opportunity
for
the
citizens
to
discover
the
creativity
of
Lebanese
artists
and
to
create
a
dialogue
between
the
art
and
the
public.
Within
the
context
of
Beirut
Cultural
Capital
1999,
we
organise
an
event
which
allows
some
artists
to
exhibit
their
works
beyond
galleries
traditional
seeting.
We
believe
that
buses
can
play
a
significant
part
in
this
initiative.
During
July
1999,
the
painting
of
the
selected
artists
will
be
parading
through
the
streets
of
Beirut,
in
tempo
with
the
city.
The
aim
of
this
project
is
to
achieve
three
main
objectives:
-To
help
creating
a
dialogue
between
the
artist
and
the
public.
-To
enliven
the
Lebanese
daily
life.
-To
introduce
the
general
public
to
Lebanese
artists'
creativeness.
With
the
opening
of
several
new
areas
and
sites
dedicated
to
the
expression
and
continuity
of
art,
we
hope
to
share
with
you
this
current
experience
in
a
city
constantly
evolving. |
