The Orchestre National de Lille
The Orchestre National de Lille was formed in 1976. It
is today one of the leading French orchestras. The
Orchestra has 100 musicians and gives nearly 120
concerts each year.
In its artistic policy, the Orchestra aims
principally to protect national heritage, to promote
young French artists, and to be an exponent of both
contemporary composition and great symphonic works.
The Orchestra takes part in major festivals in France
(Aix-en -Provence, Orange, Colmar, Evian, Saint-Denis,
Montpellier, Besançon) and in Europe (Canterbury,
Amsterdam, Vienna, Rome, Montreux...)
It
is an important ambassador of it own region and French
culture as a whole.
