GRAMMY NOMINATIONS

Universal Music leads the field in Grammy nominations

Universal Music Group artists led the nominations in major categories of the 48th annual Grammy Awards, which were announced on Dec. 8 in New York.  These included four of the five nominees for the all-important Album of the Year category, and three of the five nominees for Record of the Year.

Among UMG’s nominated artists were Mariah Carey, Kanye West, Gwen Stefani, 50 Cent, Stevie Wonder, the Black Eyed Peas and the Killers.  Among the non-American nominees were U2, Keane, Rammstein, Floetry and Cecilia Bartoli.  Universal Music accrued 138 nominations (including distributed labels), more than any other record company.  The full list of nominations by category appears below.

The 48th annual Grammy Awards show takes place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 8, and the telecast is transmitted worldwide.
