'This 1999 International Festival of Byblos is distinguished by the very important date of September the 14th; This day marks the anniversary of the ONU and the Unesco, the International Year of Peace will be proclaimed from 7 cities in the world under the aegis of the UNESCO. Paris, Hiroshima, the Islands of Paques, Tihotihuacan have been selected and Byblos had the honor of being elected in the Mediterranean to be the host of that important proclamation...'

'Mediterraneo'. Ethnic music of the surroundings of the Mediterranean with singing orchestras and Greek, Portuguese, andalous, Catalans, Sicilians, Bulgarians, tsiganes, Morocco, Egyptians. musicians.

Quator Akademie Manneheim (Germany)

'The Pedestrian City'
All the city of Byblos will be a pedestrian srteet. Stands will be rent for the traders. Nocturnal will be allowed. The city will witness many sites of interest. Theaters for children will be presented. Clowns and dansers will animate the corners of the city.
Prizes will be distributed to the buyers of the day.
Free entry.
August 24:
Inauguration of two exhibitions:
-Paintings and Watercolors of Byblos
-Photos of Byblos and a contest for the best photo of Byblos.
Place: 'Pedestrian Street' of Byblos
Free entry.
August 26:
'Colloque International' in cooperation with the UNESCO and the city of Byblos. Among the guests Nobel Prize.
Place: Amphitheater of the Shool in the heart of Byblos.
Entry upon invitation.
August 26-27-28:
Mediterraneo.
Second part with the new ensembles and orchestras.
August 29:
The Festival of the Sea.
The historical tradition of Byblos, port city of the Mediterranean will be respected. The boats sailed to the sea towards the port of Byblos where they will be waiting for the spectators.
In the evening: Fire works.
In the night: Dinner of the sea at the port, with artisans stands.
September 2:
Gala dinner with a fasion show of ancient robes of Papou Lahoud given at the port of Byblos.
September 3-4:
A big star singer will aninmate two evenings in the Citadelle.
Tickets: 30.000 L.L. and 60.000L.L
September 9:
Inauguration of a sculpture exhibition in the gardens of the 'Remparts'.
September 10-11:
Carmina Burana of Carl Orff with the orchestra of 'Philarmonique of Varsovie'.
Place: Citadelle.
Tickets: 25.000 up to 200.000 L.L.
September 12:
The Mini Marathon.
In the streets of Jbeil.

From Byblos to Carthages.

-A big evening party under the UNESCO theme: Philharmonic concert.
