ONE TOUGH COP

Starting: 8 August 1999
Showing in: Circuit Planète

Production Information

Growing in the mob in New York, you have two choices:
kill or be killed. But Bo Dietl made the most dangerous choice of all, he became a cop.
Young cop BO DIELT faces a wall of grey-haired, ster-faced senior officers as he begins to explain the bizarre chain of events that has led him to this internal affairs investigation.
"Suppose we begin with the facts, says one of them, 'starting with the events going back to June of this year..."

But really, you have to go back earlier to understand the situation. Here's a guy, Bo Dielt, whose best friend from childhood, RICHIE D'AMICO, is a rising mob boss. His Godfather, TOMMY FLORIO, rules the local underworld. He grew up in a neighborhood where those nice old guys on the corner--guys like BIG JELLY, FRANKIE HOT and PHILLY NOSE are probably hit men. It's a world where the only cops you can trust are the ones you're bribing. Though Bo shocked everyone by becoming a cop, he's never strayed far from his lifelong friends and family in the neighborhood.

June. Summer in New York--hot and tense. The recent rape and murder of a nun has cranked things up to a fever pitch as the entire world, it seems, descends upon this small Italian neighborhood looking for a story. For Dielt and

partner COWBOY, so-named because of his John Wayne-like drawl, there's nothing more important than nailing the deviants who came into their neighborhood and did this to a nun. A nun for chrissakes. But with Bo and Cowboy's reputations as loose cannons, they can't even get near the case-- this one's being handled from downtown. Angry at being shut out, Bo and Cowboy vow to break the cases themselves and use their mob contacts to bring them, clue by clue, closer to the killers.

Directed by Abel Ferrara, from a scipt written by Jeremy Iacone, based on Bo Dielt's autobiography--the gritty, true story of his life as a New York cop.
