Biography

Abdul Majeed Abdullah Motaher was born in the Al Arida village in the Jizan region in 1963 but he moved with his family at the age of 2 years to the city of Kanfatha, where he lived for two years.  Then he moved again with his family to the city of Jeddah except for his father who stayed in Kanfatha close to his work.

In Jeddah one of his teachers discovered his musical gift and arranged for him to go to the Jeddah Radio Station and he sang publicly for the first time in his life many classical Arabic songs of Abdul Halim Hafez and Sharifa Fadel. He used to sing songs to his friends of legendary artists such as Talal Madah and Abdul Halim Hafez.

The first event he sang in was that at the Saudi Ittihad club in Jeddah and although he was only 13 years old, his performance was met with huge applause from the audience.

He has released 21 albums in a hugely successful career with the Saudi based Rotana Production Company and his most famous songs include Abki Al Ma Jaraly, TaÕer Al Ashgan, Ya Tayeb El Galb, Mant Rayeg, Rouhi Tehibbak, Albi Yesalem Aleek, Istaktharak, Ahibbak Leeh, Raheeb, and Inta Al Aziz.

Abdul Majeed Abdullah is considered to be one of the most famous singers among the new generation that has emerged in the Gulf Region during the last decade and currently is the biggest selling artist in the Gulf. He has participated in a number of festivals and concerts around the Arab world including the Jarash Festival in Jordan and has held concerts in many European cities.

This Very Best Of compilation for the first time spans his entire career and includes all Abdul Majeed AbdullahÕs big hits over the years from the beginning of his career to his album Inta Le Aziz released in late 2000.
