Zibdine
is known for its summer celebration of traditional village
life. During the festival villagers wear folkloric costumes as
they demonstrate old farming and food preparation methods.
Among the traditions that come alive is wheat threshing using
a huge stone mill powered by oxen. Smaller mills, fun by hand,
grind salt, corn or cracked wheat.
The
visitor can see arak manufactured in a home still and discover
how charcoal, straw brooms and other domestic necessities are
made. There is also an old fashioned “tabune,” a stone
oven for baking bread.
