Presidential
Palace
The
president
of
the
Lebanese
Republic
represents
the
symbol
of
the
unity
of
the
nation
that
he
leads.
His
mission
is
to
safeguard
the
constitution
and
Lebanon’s
independence,
unity
and
territorial
integrity.
The
president
is
elected
by
secret
ballot
and
by
a
two-thirds
majority
of
the
House
of
Parliament.
The
president’s
term
is
six
years,
and
he
may
be
re-elected
after
six
years
for
another
term.
The
president
also
oversees
the
Supreme
Defense
Council
and
the
Commander-in-chief
of
the
Armed
Forces,
which
fall
under
the
authority
of
the
Council
of
Ministers.

National
Lebanese
Army
The
Lebanese
Armed
Forces
is
a
key
component
of
national
unity
and
stability
and
protects
the
state
against
potential
danger.
The
LAF
seek
to
maintain
constitutional
legitimacy
and
operates
according
to
its
role
as
specified
in
the
constitution.
It
also
executes
the
resolutions
of
the
Lebanese
Council
of
Ministers.

Its
main
concerns
are
safeguarding
the
currency,
maintaining
economic
stability,
maintaining
and
safeguarding
the
soundness
of
the
banking
system
and
developing
the

their
customers,
banks
liquidity,
and
capital
adequacy,
in
cooperation
with
the
Lebanese
Banks
Association.
It
regulates
asset
to
liabilities
ratios
on
all
or
selected
banks
to
be
met
at
a
date
specified
by
BDL.

Ministry
of
Tourism
Over
the
years,
Lebanon
has
been
known
for
its
rich
tourist
sites
and
diverse
monuments
from
different
old
cultures
and
civilizations
around
the
world.
The
ministry
of
Tourism
provides
guidance
to
tourists
by
publishing
all
the
required
tourism
literature
related
to
tourist
sites
and
cultural
events.
It
also
sponsors
many
of
the
cultural
and
artistic
events
that
are
organized

the
state
level.

Finance
The
Ministry
of
Finance
supervises
the
State’s
Treasury
and
maintains
the
status
of
the
Lebanese
pound
in
foreign
markets.
It
offers
financial
guidance
to
all
citizens
and
leads
the
country
into
signing
international
agreements
that
would
bring
prosperity
to
Lebanon.
The
ministry
of
Finance
presents
the
rationale
of
fiscal
plans
that
the
State
hopes
to
implement
as
was
recently
done
after
releasing
the
Value
Added
Tax.
The
ministry
also
monitors
the
monthly
fiscal
performance
of
the
state.

of
Post
&
Telecommunications
At
the
outset
of
the
21st
century
and
with
the
beginning
of
the
Information
Revolution,
the
ministry
of
Post
and
Telecommunications
is
exerting
the
effort
to
lead
Lebanon’s
telecommunication
industry
into
the
competition
of
the
Global
Village.
The
ministry
overlooks
and
regulates
the
implementation
of
local
laws
and
legislations
governing
the
introduction
of
telecommunication
technology
such
as
Satellites,
T.V.,
Radio
and
satellite
broadcast,
and
reception
and
retransmission.

The
Central
Inspection
Board
Being
a
public
administration
linked
to
the
council
of
ministers,
it
monitors
the
actions
of
public
administrative
departments,
works
to
improve
the
methods
of
administrative
action,
and
gives
consultation
to
authorities.
It
also
coordinates
related
actions
between
several
departments,
and
organizes
the
rent
of
buildings
for
all
administrative
departments
associated
with
public
civil
administrative
departments.

Service
Board
It
highlights
the
government’s
aims
to
develop
efficiency
in
administration,
integrity
in
work
between
all
civil
“servants”
(employees),
the
spread
of
equality
and
the
flourishing
of
national
economy
as
an
attempt
to
make
every
Lebanese
citizen
sense
the
grace
of
independence
in
every
public
utility.

Court
of
Audit
An
administrative
body
empowered
to
exercise
judicial
supervision
over
the
expenditures
of
public
funds.
It
is
associated
with
the
office
of
the
prime
minister,
yet
functions
independently.
The
prosecution
of
public
employees
who
violated
the
use
of
public
funds
and
the
laws
and
regulations
governing
the
administration
of
public
funds
are
also
the
roles
assumed
by
the
Court
of
Audit.

Ministry
of
Economy
and
Trade
Founded
to
conduct
macroeconomic
policy
analysis,
regulate
domestic
commerce,
and
negotiate
and
implement
international
trade
agreements.
It
also
secures
consumer
protection,
protects
intellectual
property,
creates
competitiveness
between
Lebanese
firms
and
proposes
economic
sector
policies.

Ministry
of
Public
Health
The
ministry
of
Public
Health
presents
Health
Awareness
Programs
to
all
Lebanese
citizens.
The
ministry
is
responsible
for
importing
medical
equipment,
medicine,
and
checking
their
validity.
The
ministry
also
conducts
maternal
and
child
health
surveys,
and
provides
all
children
with
the
necessary
vaccination
plans.
One
of
the
major
roles
of
the
ministry
of
Public
Health
is
to
implement
and
enforce
all
international
health
agreements,
laws
and
legislations
in
Lebanon.

Ministry
of
Public
Works
The
Lebanese
Civil
War
and
the
Israeli
Occupation
caused
a
total
damage
to
Lebanon’s
infrastructure.
The
aim
of
the
ministry
of
public
works
is
to
re-build
a
modern
infrastructure
to
regain
Lebanon’s
status
as
a
modern
and
civilized
country
in
the
Middle
East.

Ministry
of
Agriculture
First
established
in
the
year
1925
as
a
center
for
pest
control.
Afterwards,
it
was
developed
to
become
an
Agricultural
Machinery
Center
in
1932
and
commenced
the
implementation
of
many
projects
with
the
help
of
Arab
and
International
organizations
to
give
the
farmer
the
optimum
by
working
through
a
limited
budget.
Currently,
the
ministry
is
executing
a
plan
to
provide
and
train
the
human
element,
expand
and
construct
the
agricultural
area,
rehabilitate
water
resources,
develop
and
protect
forest-forestation
and
expand
the
use
of
agricultural
machinery.

Ministry
of
Environment
Lebanon
is
well
known
for
its
green
spaces
and
Cedars
that
also
represent
the
country’s
symbol.
The
ministry
of
Environment’s
prime
mission
is
to
protect
the
natural
beauty
of
Lebanon
by
providing
farmers
with
fertilizers
and
by
organizing
environmental
awareness
campaigns
to
preserve
nature.
The
ministry’s
obligation
is
to
sign
international
agreements
with
foreign
organizations
that
share
the
ministry’s
interests
all
over
the
world
such
as
the
Green
Peace.

Ministry
of
Emigrants
Established
in
1993
to
develop
the
relations
between
Lebanese
Emigrants
and
their
mother
country.
Several
conferences
for
emigrant
businessmen,
summer
camps
for
emigrant
youth,
media,
associates
and
clubs
of
Lebanese
origin
were
held
as
an
attempt
to
achieve
the
ministry’s
goal.
On
August
2000,
the
Directorate
General
of
Emigrants,
which
formed
once
again
a
part
of
the
Ministry
of
Foreign
Affairs
and
Emigrants
replaced
the
Ministry
of
Emigrants.

Ministry
of
Displaced
After
the
Lebanese
Civil
War,
the
essential
role
of
ministry
of
Displaced
is
to
organize
plans
to
assist
the
displaced
in
returning
safely
to
their
villages
and
re-build
their
houses.
To
achieve
this
goal,
the
ministry
has
established
a
special
fund
that
would
finance
the
plan.

Administrative
Reform
OMSAR’s
mission
:
"Bringing
the
Lebanese
post-war
public
administration
into
the
21st
century
through
an
optimal
and
coherent
introduction
of
Institutional
Development
(rehabilitation
and
reform)
and
Information
Technology
(systems
and
communications)
measures
that
render
streamlined,
transparent
and
traceable
processes
fulfilled
by
productive
civil
servants
for
the
benefit
of
both
the
general
public
and
government.".
