The
August 20, 1998 Council of Ministers' meeting, held in the Grand Serail for
the first time since October 1981, represents the official return of the
seat of government to the heart of Beirut. Greatly enhancing the stature
and architectural quality of the Beirut Central District, the magnificent
building is the first of meticulous renovation works which stretched over
four years.

benevolently overlooks the reconstruction of the BCD, symbolizing yet a new
turn in Beirut's history, one of regained life and vigor. |
