The restored Municipality building is now housing the offices of the
president and members of the municipal council, as well as the
Beirut Mohafez (administrator).
Italian foreign affairs minister Lamberto Dini officially
inaugurated on November 22 the embassy offices in Nejmeh square. The
Japanese delegation will be the first to move into SOLIDERE's
embassy complex near the Serail. Other institutional tenants include
the Economic and Social Council, in the Company's building 200 in
the Nejmeh area; on street level will be NIKE and La Maison du
Saumon's Salmontini gourmet restaurant.
With construction nearing completion, Audi Bank is moving soon to
its new headquarters in Bab Idriss. Société Générale
Libano-Européenne de Banque has opened in Riad El Solh street, and
Bankers Assurance has moved into the Asseily building on Riad El
Solh Square. CCF Finance Middle East is operating from building 170
in the Foch-Allenby area. Banca di Roma, reestablishing itself in
the city center, has purchased building 1086 in Maarad street.
Cercle Hitti will have a second showroom in the Société
Immobilière de Presse building on Martyrs' Square.
Wadih Mrad gift shop has opened in Nejmeh Square. In the
Foch-Allenby area, Versace inaugurated its boutique in building 1135
on November 4. Three fashion oulets are opening in SOLIDERE
properties in 2001: Kamishibaï in building 142, from which One
Estate Middle East operates; If Boutique in building 1139; and
Actuel in building 157. They will be joined by Noni, Aïshti, and
Aïshti Home Collection in buildings 141, 143 and 144, all
third-party properties. In 2002, GS is expected to occupy three
floors in Patriarch Howayek street, in building 1342 developed by a
sister company.
Returning to the city center, Aziz is finalizing the decoration of
its enlarged gourmet food store in building 1238 Mina El Hosn. Grand
Café has started decoration works prior to moving to the ground
floor of SOLIDERE building 174. Planned in SOLIDERE building 201in
Maarad street are Gilbert Khoury's pub-restaurant and an Italian
restaurant by Premier Leisure (Boubes group). Another outlet of the
latter chain, Metropolis, is due to open, together with L'Entrecôte,
in building 286 in Maarad street.
The Starco commercial complex has added showrooms to its existing
business, professional and institutional tenants. |
